Day 06: THURSDAY, MOSCOW
Breakfast at hotel. This morning commence a full day privately guided sightseeing
tour of Moscow. You start with a morning panoramic city tour where you will see
many ancient churches and cathedrals, some of them dating as far back as the 15th
century, many of them having been restored or even built anew lately: beautiful
theatres and palaces; modern business complexes and hotels; buildings of late Soviet
architecture such as the Moscow State University and the Central Stadium in Luzhniki which hosted the 1980 Olympic Games. Moscow, with its some 10
million inhabitants, is vast and at times chaotic. You will visit the historical centre of
the city, which includes the Red Square, Sofiiskaya Embankment, St Sophia
Cathedral, and the panorama of the Kremlin walls. You will also see the modern
part of the city which includes the Lenin (Vorobievy) Hills – the highest place in
Moscow, providing a beautiful view of the city and Poklonnaya Hill where there is a
monument commemorating defenders of the city during the World War Two.
A lunch stop is made during the day (lunch not included – at own cost).
In the afternoon the tour will continue the sightseeing during which you will
experience a tour of one of Moscow’s beautiful Metro stations, a highlight in itself
and a must do when visiting Moscow. After a short journey on the Metro a visit is
made to the State Tretyakov Gallery (entrance included), the national treasury of
Russian Fine art and one of the greatest museums in the world. The Gallery’s
collection consists entirely of Russian art and artists who have made a contribution
to the history of Russian art and contains more than 150,000 works of art. Return to the hotel. Evening is
at leisure.

Day 07: FRIDAY, MOSCOW
Breakfast at hotel. Full day privately guided city tour of Moscow during which you
will enjoy a privately guided tour of Kremlin Territory with Armoury Chamber.
During this tour you will walk through the Kremlin grounds and visit the Armoury
Chamber with its famous collection of Faberge eggs, jewels and royal thrones. The
word Kremlin (kreml) means a fortress or walled town; Moscow’s is the biggest and
most famous. The earliest ramparts were of earth and wood, but successive rulers
raised and strengthened the defenses after every attack. The present brick walls date
from the 1490s, though they have been frequently restored. When the court and
government moved to St Petersburg in 1712, the Kremlin was demoted to
ceremonial status. Twenty-five years later, it’s last wooden buildings burned down.
Each of the 20 towers along the wall has its own history and architectural quirks.
Best known is the 67-metre Spassky Tower, facing Red Square between St Basil’s
Cathedral and Lenin’s Tomb. Its bells, weighing up to 2 tons, are heard regularly
on Moscow Radio chiming the quarter hour. Before the Russian Revolution, those
passing through Spassky Gate had to doff (remove) their hats.
A lunch stop is made during the day (lunch not included – at own cost).
In the afternoon you will experience a cruise on Moscow River starting in the city
Centre including views of Kremlin, Novodevichy convent, Sparrow Hills, Cathedral
of the Saviour Christ, White House of Russian Federation and much more. Return to the hotel. Evening
is at leisure.
