K-1: Sightseeing in Kangerlussuaq
A tour by minibus where the guide shows the location of all service facilities such as swimming pool, bowling centre, night club etc. The guide will tell the interesting history of the former military airbase which is now a modern village and a hectic civilian airport. A visit to the museum is also included.

K-2: the Inland Ice Cap by 4x4 Vehicle
A tour by 4-wheel-drive cars through an Arctic desert, along rivers, through old glacier valleys and over small mountains directly to the Inland Ice Cap. We will be driving on narrow mountain tracks in slow speed. Enroute we make several photo stops, walk to some view points to overlook the fantastic Arctic landscape. Our destination is the steep glacier front of The Russell Glacier, where you will experience the activity of the ice on warm summer days: Big pieces of ice falling off making big thunder-like noises. Alternatively we might be driving to point 660 where you have the possibility to walk on the Inland Ice Cap.

K-3: Musk Oxen and Reindeer Safari
By minibuses to an area where we often see musk oxen and reindeer - the animals are wild but very often it is possible to get quite close for good photo opportunities.
Please note that we are going into the wilderness; it is not a zoo. Therefore we cannot guarantee that you’ll see the animals, but the viewing rate is generally high; more than 90% over the year.

K-5: Dinner at the Rowing Club
Transfer from the hotel to an area with ruins of an Eskimo autumn Camp used by reindeer hunters. The guide will tell about the Eskimo's hunting. Then a short walk to Restaurant Rowing Club where you will be served a 3 course dinner in Nature surroundings. After dinner transfer back to the hotel.

Ilulissat:

I-1: City Walk Ilulissat
During a walk through town the guide tells about the history of Ilulissat. We visit the old part of town and see buildings from the very start of the Danish trading station, the busy fishing harbour, the old church and the museum. Lunch at a local restaurant.

I-2: The Icebergs of Sermermiut
By bus as far as the road goes. A beautiful walk along the UNESCO designated Ilulissat Ice Fjord to Sermermiut where traces from the 4 old Eskimo cultures still can be seen. Sermermiut is a fertile valley next to the Ice Fiord; here you can enjoy the flowers as well as the fantastic icebergs.

I-3: Hunter's Settlement
By boat to the small settlement Oqaitsut/Rodebay with a local population of approx. 40 persons totally depending upon fishing and hunting - a quite different world compared to the nearby town of Ilulissat. Guided walk through the village before we will enjoy lunch at the old trading station.

I-4: Midnight Cruise to the Ice Fiord
The midnight sun and the warm red colours reflecting in the gigantic icebergs is a fantastic sight. Cruise between the icebergs and enjoy a late Martini on "the real rocks".
Season for midnight sun is approx. 22may-24jul. Outside this season the excursion is operated as an evening cruise with the beautiful sunset reflecting over the icebergs.

I-5: By Helicopter to the Ice Cap
During the stay in Ilulissat the guide will try to arrange an excursion by helicopter - including a ground stop where you can leave the helicopter.
During the flight we cruise in low altitude over the Ilulissat Ice Fjord which is now on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
Operation is depending on the weather and helicopter capacity. Only to be booked locally!

I-6: Greenland Hunter's Settlement
By boat to the settlement of Ilimanaq, which is situated just south of the Kangia Ice Fjord. Ilimanaq has a population of approx. 90 persons completely depending upon fishing and hunting. A completely different world compared to the town of Ilulissat. Upon arrival in Ilimanaq guided tour of the settlement before enjoying our lunch with a local family.

I-7: Home Visit
Visit a Greenland home, enjoy the "Coffee-Mik" (a cup of coffee which by tradition is served to all visitors) and learn about Greenland and its population.

I-8: Eqip - The Calving Glacier
Eqip glacier is the only glacier in the Ilulissat area where we often experience a glacier calving. We cruise in front of the 5 km wide glacier - enjoying our lunch - and hope for the unique sight of an iceberg “delivery” - so are also a lot of seabirds as they know by experience, that any calving from the glacier will result in a huge meal , when the new iceberg is turning around in the water bringing a lot of sea animals to the surface.

I-13: Feeding the huskies
Ilulissat is sledge district and the town's approx. 5000 dogs are still used for both work and fun. Even in modern times no mean of transportation is as suitable for winter as the strong dogs pulling the sledges when the local fishermen need to transport their catch from the edge of the Ice fiord back to town. We invite you to join the feeding of the dogs. Here, you can see, feel, touch and most of all hear the howling of 20 hungry dogs. The owner will demonstrate the sledge, the harness and the whip and tell you about the life as a sledge dog in North Greenland.
