1: Arrival at Keflavik Airport. Transfer on own from Keflavík airport to
accommodation in Reykjavík. Recommend that you take scheduled Flybus to city center/hotel. Day
2:
Drive to Pingvellir National Park, site of the ancient Icelandic parliament. The park itself is situated in a stunning volcanic landscape of mountains and lava flows, on the border of Iceland's largest lake. Continue to the famous hot springs at Geysir and the mighty waterfall Gullfoss. ( ~ 106 miles) Day
3: Drive along the spectacular southern coast, view highlights such as the
Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls, Myrdalsjökull
glacier, Dyrholaey* and Vík. Across Eldhraun lava field
to Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Day
6:
Across the Mödrudalsöræfi highlands renowned for their stark beauty to Dettifoss, the mightiest waterfall in Europe. Explore the many wonders of the Jökulsargljufur National Park such as the strange formations of Hljodaklettar (Echo Rocks) and the impressive horseshoe-shaped Asbyrgi canyon. On to Tjörnes peninsula and Husavik. ( ~ 193 miles) Day 7: Spend the day exploring the natural wonders of Myvatn and the surrounding area. Highlights such as Dimmuborgir, the pseudocraters of Skutustadir, Namaskard and Krafla. Drive to Akureyri, the capital of the North. ( ~ 62 miles) Day
8:
Explore the fascinating town of Akureyri in the morning. Continue via the fertile valley of Skagafjördur renowned for horse breeding to Midfjördur. ( ~ 124 miles) Day
9:
Drive to Holmavik, across Steingrimsfjardarheidi to the spectacular region of the West Fjords, the oldest part of Iceland. Drive the numerous uninhabited fjords of IÍsafjardardjup with beautiful coastlines teeming with seals and bird life. Continue to Isafjördur, the largest town in the area. ( ~ 224 miles) Day
10:
Explore the town of Ísafjördur and its surroundings such as the neighboring towns of Bolungarvik and Sudureyri. ( ~ miles will vary) Day
12:
Sail with the ferry Baldur across the Breidafjördur bay with its countless islands and rich bird life to the charming village of Stykkisholmur. Continue around the Snæfellsnes peninsula passing the small fishing villages suchs as Hellissandur, Grundarfjördur and the magnificent columnar basalt rock formations at Arnarstapi. Make a stop at the rocky beach of Djúpalónssandur. ( ~ 250 miles) Day
13:
Explore the countless natural wonders of Snæfellsnes peninsula such as the rocky beach of Djupalonssandur and Arnarstapi sea cliffs before continuing to the Borgarfjördur area and via Hvalfjördur fjord to Reykjavík. ( ~ 50 miles) Prices
