This independent tour combines a visit to Oslo, the Viking Capital, with a trip through the fjord country to Bergen, the Hanseatic capital of Western Norway. The itinerary includes a ride on the Bergen Rail line and the famous Flaam Railroad, a 2 hour fjord cruise from Flaam to Gudvangen, a bus to Voss, and an overnight with dinner at the historic Fleischer’s Hotel plus two nights each in Oslo and Bergen.

Why not also include the famous Norwegian Coastal Voyage (NCV) Bergen-Kirkenes (6 nights), Kirkenes-Bergen (5 nights) or the full round trip cruise Bergen-Bergen (11 nights) calling on up to 34 ports along the scenic Norwegian coast line including the North Cape area. The optional cruises include a cabin with private bath, all meals and port/fuel charges. Senior and AARP discounts apply to NCV option, if you qualify.

Day 01: USA to OSLO
Board your modern SAS jetliner for an overnight flight to Oslo in Economy Class. SAS offers widebody service, with movies, short features and games at every seat, from Newark, Washington-Dulles, Chicago O'Hare and Seattle Tacoma Airports. Day 02: OSLO
You will arrive in the Norwegian Viking capital in the late morning or afternoon. Transfer on own via Exress Train from Oslo Gardermoen Airport arrival hall to Central Station (20 min./$28). Your hotel located close to the Central Station. Remainder of day free.
Overnight at 3* HOTEL CECIL or similar.

Day 03: OSLO
After a good Scandinavian buffet breakfast, we suggest a 3 hour Oslo city sightseeing tour (not included), visiting landmarks and attractions such as the City Hall, the Viking Ship Museum, the Vigeland Sculpture Park and more. In the afternoon, a visit to the medieval Akershus castle and the World War II Resistance museum on your own, is highly recommended. Evening at leisure.

Day 04: OSLO to VOSS (or FLAAM)
After an early breakfast, transfer on your own to the Central Station. You are now embarking on an expanded version of the famous Norway in a Nutshell tour starting with an 8.11am
5 hour train ride towards Bergen, via the beautiful Hallingdal Valley to Myrdal. In Myrdal you will change train to the spectacular Flaam Mountain Railroad, descending for 13 miles via 20 tunnels before reaching Flaam Village. (Note! If you opt to stay in Flaam Day 5. will start with afternoon cruise to Gudvangen and late arrival into Bergen, around 8 pm) You will have a little time in Flaam before continuing on a 2 hour fjord cruise along the Aurlands and Naeroeyfjords to Gudvangen. In Gudvangen you will connect to the scheduled bus to Voss with arrival around 7pm. You will spend the night at Historic Fleischer's Hotel located next to the rail station. Evening at leisure to explore this resort town and it's many winter activities.

Day 05: VOSS (or FLAAM) to BERGEN
Enjoy your buffet breakfast as you look out over the scenic Vangs Lake in front of the hotel. You can either depart in the morning or mid-afternoon on the Bergen train for a one and a half hour ride to Bergen Station. In Bergen transfer on your own to your hotel located next to the harbor.
Overnight at 3* HOTEL AUGUSTIN or similar.

Day 06: BERGEN
Scandinavian buffet breakfast at hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore Bergen city and harbor on own. Evening at leisure to enjoy dinner on own at one of the many harbor or Bryggen restaurants.
Overnight at 3* HOTEL AUGUSTIN or similar.

Day 07: BERGEN END or OPTIONAL NORWEGIAN COASTAL VOYAGE.
After your final Scandinavian buffet breakfast, check out and transfer on own to Bergen Airport for your SAS flight back to the U.S. Transfer options are Airport bus (30 min./$14) or a taxi. (20 min./$40)
