The "DETOUR" project is a collaboration between the design foundation Norsk Form and the Norwegian P R Administration, covering Norway from the South coast all the way to the top of Norway. Along the fjords, waterfalls, mountains, coasts and countryside run 18 National Tourist Routes. Close to 200 architectural projects have sprung up along these routes, in the form of exciting and scenic stopping points, information centers, picnic areas, rest stops, and observation platforms designed into striking landmarks.

Our "DETOUR" Norway self-drive tour will take you into areas of the Norwegian Fjord and Glacier kingdom that offer the highest concentration of "DETOUR" roads that are truly unique in scenery and beauty. This area is not easily accessible unless you drive, but the roads are of a high standard and easy to navigate. This combined with 5 nights in cozy accommodations at select Historic Hotels will offer you a trip that you will cherish for years to come. The Historic Hotel members are hand-picked based on age and size of hotels, standard of rooms, quality of staff, personal service and a kitchen that offers only the very best.

The tour can also be done round-trip from Bergen or one-way Oslo to Bergen or v.v. However, order of hotel stays would be modified plus any required ferry tickets and/or one-way car rental fee would be additional. Tour can be modified with additional nights in any area or expanded to cover additional "DETOUR" roads/areas. See link below for complete list of road options. Contact us for a custom quote.
