Cross the heart of Norway by rail and fjord boat including a breathtaking ride down the mountainside on the famous Flåm Railroad. Overnight by the Aurlandsfjord at the cozy Fretheim Hotel / New Flåmsbrygga Hotel in Flåm, and/or the quaint Kvikne's Hotel in Balestand. Breakfast and dinner at the hotels are included. For those with limited time to spend, it is possible to travel between Oslo and Bergen in one full day.
Optional overnights in Bergen and Oslo can be arranged

 

2-DAY NUTSHELL SOGNEFJORD TOURS

Standard Tour Itinerary Oslo to Bergen
Due to ongoing track work in Norway some time tables may change without prior notice
Tour E1452A-2F (Flåm overnight) or Tour E1452A-2B (Balestrand overnight)
Day 1—Standard class train from Oslo Station at 8:11 or 10:31 AM to Myrdal connecting with the Flåm Railroad to Flåm at 2 PM or 5 PM. Overnight and dinner at Fretheim Hotel or the new Flåmsbrygga Hotel, both located next to station, with views of the Aurland Fjord
OR OPTION:
Day 1—Standard class train from Oslo at 8:11 AM to Flåm via Myrdal and the Flåm Railroad connecting by Express Boat at 3:30 PM to Balestrand at 4:55 PM, with dinner and overnight at the Historic Kvikne’s Hotel.

Day 2—Sognefjord cruise to Bergen from either Flåm at 3:30 PM or Balestrand.at 4:55 PM. Arrival in Bergen at 8:40 PM. When staying overnight in Balestrand there is an option to take an earlier Express Boat to Bergen with departure at 7:50 AM and arrival at 11:40 AM. This option is possible daily except on Sundays

Standard Tour Itinerary Bergen to Oslo

Tour E1452B-2F (Flåm overnight) or Tour E1452B-2B (Balestrand overnight)
Day 1—Sognefjord cruise departs from the Strandkaiterminalen at 8:00 AM bound for Balestrand at 11:55 AM or Flåm at 1:25 PM. Dinner and overnight at Kvikne’s Hotel in Balestrand or Fretheim Hotel / Flåmsbrygga Hotel in Flåm

Day 2—Express boat from Balestrand at 11:55 AM transferring to the Flåm Railroad and continuing via the afternoon train from Myrdal to Oslo. Arrival in Oslo is at 10:36 PM.
OR:
Day 2—From Fretheim Hotel / Flåmsbrygga Hotel, walk to the Flåm Rail Station , ~ departure time options 9:00, 11:00 AM or 4:00 PM, in time for the morning or afternoon train via Myrdal to Oslo, arriving at 3:00, 5:32 or 10:36 PM.

Tour Includes:
• One night in Flåm at Fretheim Hotel, Flåmsbrygga Hotel or in Balestrand at Kvikne’s Hotel in standard room
• One breakfast and dinner at the hotel of choice
• Standard class rail between Flåm and Oslo or in reverse, see upgrade option below.
• Cruise on the Sognefjord and Aurlandsfjord by Hydrofoil
• Detailed itinerary and tour brochure with travel information
Rates vary depending on hotel selected and/or season

Tour Options:
• Stay at Balestrand Hotel in standard room & save ~ $30 per person May 20 - Sep. 10
• Extra nights can be added at above hotels or alternate fjord villages enroute as your wish, please call for a quote based on your itinerary
• Glacier tour programs are being revised for 2012 and are not presently finalized and must be purchased from the Kvikne's Hotel tour desk. NOTE!! Requires 2 nights in Balestrand when traveling Bergen to Oslo direction Glacier Tours are expected to operate 6/01-8/31
• Upgrade to Komfort Class incl. PC jack, Coffee/Tea and a Norwegian paper add $24 p.p. per train. Does not apply to Flåm train
• Upgrade options available at Fretheim Hotel from $27 per room per night
• Upgrade options at Kvikne's Hotel; (per person per night)
- $40 per person., rooms in main building w/fjord view
- $62 per person, rooms in Historic building w/fjord view
- $100 per person, Demi-suite in Historic building w/fjord view

Optional luggage transport is now available from your Oslo hotel to your Bergen hotel or in reverse
Fee per piece is $57 and must be prebooked with ScanAm.
When staying overnight in fjords you will have to pack an overnight bag and bring along as luggage is only transported between Oslo and Bergen or in reverse

3-DAY NUTSHELL SOGNEFJORD TOURS

Standard Tour Itinerary Oslo to Bergen — Tour E1452A-3

Day 1—Depart by Standard class train from Oslo’s Central Station at 8:11 or 10:31 AM to Myrdal where you will transfer to the famous Flåm Railroad and travel down the mountainside to Flåm. Overnight at the Fretheim Hotel or the new Flåmsbrygga Hotel, in Flåm including dinner

Day 2—There is ample time to relax or enjoy a stroll along the fjord before boarding the early afternoon express boat to Balestrand at 3:30 PM. Arrival at 4:55 PM in time for dinner and overnight at the charming Historic Kvikne’s Hotel

Day 3—Enjoy Balestrand and perhaps visit the Viking Museum and the English Church before boarding the boat at 4:55 PM for a cruise on the Sognefjord to Bergen. Arrival at the Strandkaiterminalen is scheduled for 8:40 PM. Due to the long summer nights, it will be light all the way. When staying overnight in Balestrand there is an option to take an earlier Express Boat to Bergen with departure at 7:50 AM and arrival at 11:40 AM. This option is possible daily except on Sundays

Day 1—Your express boat departs Bergen’s Strandkaiterminalen at 8:00 AM for a cruise along the West Cape and through the magnificent Sognefjord to Balestrand, arrival at 11:55 AM. Dinner and overnight at Historical Kvikne’s Hotel

Day 2—The morning is free until time to board the 11:55 AM Express Boat sailing on the Sognefjord and Aurlandsfjord to Flåm at 1:25 PM. Dinner and overnight at the newly renovated Fretheim Hotel or the new
Flåmsbrygga Hotel

Day 3—You are free after breakfast until your departure on the Flåm Railroad for Myrdal, , ~ departure time options 9:00, 11:00 AM or 4:00 PM, connecting there with the trans-Norway train to Oslo with arrival at 3:00, 5:32 or 10:36 PM. Returning to Bergen is also possible, see options below

Tour Includes:
• One night in Flåm at Fretheim Hotel or the new Flåmsbrygga Hotel, in standard room
• One night in Balestrand at Kvikne’s Hotel in standard room
• Two breakfasts and dinners at the hotels
