Countryside Hotels consists of 40 unique and charming privately owned Castles, Manor Houses and Country Inns located throughout central and southern Sweden. Driving in Sweden is easy, roads and signs are excellent and most locals speak English, should you need some help. We feature a couple of tours that cover some of the most scenic areas of Sweden, and we will be happy to custom arrange an itinerary that suits your schedule and interests.

Waterways and The Folklore District
6 Days-5 Nights
Daily Departures All Year 2008

Day 1—Morning or afternoon Hertz rental car pick up before departure from Stockholm City for a one hour drive south to the picturesque town of Trosa, on the Swedish eastern shore.
Overnight at charming Trosa Stadshotell & Spa.

Day 2—Continue northwest for 2 hours towards the city of Eskilstuna for an overnight at Sundbyholm Castle/Manor House, on the southern shore of Lake Mälaren. The Castle is famous for its restaurant and offer golfing close by.

Day 3—Today you will drive north for one hour to Kolsva and the cozy Kohlswa Manor located next to Hedströmen River. Game-fishing and riding nearby.

Day 4 —Today continue into Dalarna and the charming Swedish Folklore District. After about 2 hours you will reach the cozy town of Smedjebacken. Here you will overnight at historic Ulfhyttans Manor offering views of Lake Ulvsjön. Manor offers exercise trails, golf and Spa treatments.

Day 5—Continue north for 2 hours to the city of Tällberg on the beautiful Lake Siljan for an overnight at Klockargården Hotell & Resort. The hotel is famous for its traditional Swedish restaurant. Visit the Dala Horse factory, Zorn Museum and famous artist Carl Larsson’s House.

Day 6 —Return to Stockholm, a 3-4 hour drive.

Tour Includes:
• Hertz category B. car for 6-7 days including unlimited km, basic insurance and VAT tax
• Five nights at Countryside Hotels incl. breakfast, service and local taxes

Lakes and The Charming Countryside

Day 1—Morning or afternoon Hertz rental car pick up before departure from Stockholm City for a one hour drive south to the town of Västrehaninge. Overnight at charming Häringe Castle. The Castle offers many activities and the Tyresta National Park is nearby.

Day 2—Continue west for 3 hours to the city of Aspa Bruk, on the western shore of Lake Vättern, for an overnight at historic Aspa Manor. The manor is famous for its restaurant and offers multiple activities including boating, fishing, picnic and hiking.

Day 3—Today drive north for 1.5 hours to the old city of Grythyttan and the cozy Grythyttans Country House. The hotel offers many outdoor activities such as tennis, riding, wine-tasting.

Day 4 —Head southwest along Lake Väneren for 3 hours to the city of Trollhättan. Here you will overnight at Albert Kök Hotell situated on a plateau offering views of a beautiful waterfall and downtown. Hotell has an award-winning restaurant.

Day 5—Driving east for 3-4 hours to the old city of Vadstena and the historic Vadstena Klosterhotell. An old monastery made into an unique hotel. The hotel offers many activities and sights.

Day 6—Return to Stockholm, a 2 hour drive.

If you fancy small cozy upscale hotels, castles and manor houses with individual charm, Countryside Hotels is the choice. The check is valid at 43 properties in central & southern Sweden and the price is $128 PP in a double room including breakfast buffet and taxes. Single and extra bed supplements are SEK300 (approx. $46). Children under the age of 12 are free.

Seasonal surcharge SEK300 p.p. applies at Karlaby Kro, Aahus Manor, Brösarps Gästgifveri & Hotell Rusthaallargaarden but include a 2 course dinner.
