This nonstop, 9-day tour visits Sweden, Denmark, and Norway—beginning in Stockholm, passing through the Norwegian fjords region, and ending in Oslo! Please note that this tour, along with all our Essence tours, are more fast-paced than traditional escorted tours. This tour has been designed specifically to be a budget-friendly tour, and is intended to provide an overview of the Scandinavian region.
Day 01: Arrive Stockholm
Arrive at Stockholm Arlanda Airport today, meet the English-speaking tour representative, and travel together to your hotel for check in. You’ll receive a welcome letter from the hotel reception upon check in, which details where and when you’ll meet up with your tour leader.
Have a short meeting with your tour leader and group, and learn more about the upcoming tour program before you enjoy the rest of the day on your own.

Day 02: Stockholm City Tour - Gamla Stan (Old Town) - Stortorget Square
Enjoy your first Scandinavian buffet breakfast at your hotel this morning. Meet a local guide today and travel by private coach on a panoramic Stockholm city tour, exploring this unusual cultural hub built on 14 islands and connected by 57 bridges.
We’ll walk through the city’s Old Town, Gamla Stan, discovering some of its most historic sites—pass City Hall, where the Nobel Prize banquet is held each year, and continue on to the 700-year-old Stockholm Cathedral, seat of the archbishop, before strolling toward Stortorget Square: the site of the Stockholm Blood Bath. Make a quick stop at Fjällgatan, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Stockholm. The tour ends at your hotel.
The afternoon is at leisure to explore more of the city’s secrets and hotspots on your own.

Day 03: Stockholm - Copenhagen
Breakfast is at your hotel early this morning before we depart Stockholm and board a long-distance coach for Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, traveling by quaint Swedish countryside villages and idyllic landscapes. Pass through Malmø—situated directly across from Copenhagen—and cross the Øresund Bridge, one of the longest in the world. We arrive in the early afternoon and check in to our hotel in the city center.
The afternoon and evening is yours to uncover the roots of this friendly, chic city, well-known for its culinary capital status.

Day 04: Copenhagen City Tour - Little Mermaid Statue - Christiansborg Palace - Rosenborg Castle
After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll depart by private coach with a local guide on a 3-hour Copenhagen city tour. We’ll begin with City Hall Square, where the famous Strøget Street (one of the longest pedestrian-only shopping district streets in Europe) begins. Pass Tivoli Gardens, the second-oldest amusement park in the world (est. 1843), and drive onwards toward the New Carlsberg Glyptotheque, the National Museum, the Old Stock Exchange, and the Naval Church as well as several other sites including the picturesque Nyhavn Harbor region.
Visit the iconic Little Mermaid Statue—a character created by Hans Christian Andersen in his fairy tale—before heading off to experience the historical interests of Christiansborg Palace, the home of the Danish Parliament, and Rosenborg Castle, which houses the Crown Jewels.
The tour ends at the hotel, and the rest of the afternoon and evening are free for independent exploration or relaxation.
NOTE: Although we make a stop at Christiansborg Palace, no entrances are included and must be purchased onsite.
Day 05: Copenhagen - Oslo
Breakfast is early this morning before you depart Copenhagen and begin a journey by long distance coach through Sweden to Oslo, the once-Viking capital of Norway. Drive through Helsingør and catch a ferry to Helsingborg on the way, continuing along the west coast of Sweden to reach Oslo in the early evening.
The evening tonight is at leisure to explore the city or relax in your city-center hotel.

Day 06: Oslo City Tour - Bygdoy Island - Vigeland Park - Gol - Geilo
Enjoy a buffet breakfast early this morning before meeting up with a local guide at the hotel. Today you’ll board a private coach and enjoy a panoramic Oslo city tour, discovering the unique beauty of the Norwegian Viking capital. Situated on the beautiful Oslofjord, you’ll take in a refreshing view of Oslo at the Opera House before travelling to Bygdoy Island—home of the famous Scandinavian cultural exhibition, Vigeland Park.
Pass by the Royal Palace and Karl Johan, the main boulevard of Oslo, before the tour ends downtown. You’ll be able to further explore this vibrant city on your own for a period of time before we leave for the fjord region in the afternoon.
We leave Oslo in the afternoon and travel past Hønefoss and Nesbyen, enveloped in beautiful Norwegian countryside, to the striking Hallingdal Valley. Continue on to Gol and Geilo—a town famous for its ski resorts and ringed in beautiful mountains—and arrive at a hotel tucked away on the mountainside.

Hotel Bardøla (155 miles)
Day 07: Geilo - Bergen City Tour - Bryggen Harbor - Voss
Buffet breakfast is at your hotel early this morning before you board a private coach that heads toward Brimnes, crossing the newly constructed Hardanger Bridge to reach Bruravik. We’ll continue by following the Hardangerfjord, passing Norheimsund and reaching Bergen in the late morning.
After we make a short visit and lunch stop at the famous Bergen fish market (lunch not included), we’ll embark on a 1.5-hour Bergen city tour, walking through the UNESCO World Heritage Site-listed Bryggen Harbor. We leave Bergen in the afternoon, tracing our way through mountains and idyllic countryside to our hotel at the foot of a mountain.
Arrive at the hotel in the evening and check in before you enjoy dinner.
Fleischers Hotel (241 miles)
Day 08: Voss - Flåm - Fjord Cruise (Optional) - Borgund Stave Church - Oslo
Breakfast is served buffet-style at the hotel early this morning. We’ll depart from the hotel and travel by private coach through charming Gudvangen to Flåm, site of the famous Flåm Railway. We’ll stop here and spend the next three hours in this historic fjordside town located next to the Sognefjord, the longest and deepest open fjord in the world. Here you’ll have the option of embarking on an optional Sognefjord ferry on the branches of the Aurlandsfjord and the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord: discover the mysterious beauty of the landscape and waters between Flåm and Gudvangen for two hours. Passengers who prefer to explore Flåm have approximately three hours of free time.
In the afternoon, we’ll depart Flåm through the 15-mile-long Lærdal tunnel and make a quick stop to admire the exterior of the Borgund Stave Church (est. 1100). Continue through Hemsdalen, Gol, and Hønefoss to reach Oslo in the evening.
Check in to your hotel, and enjoy your final evening in Norway.

Day 09: Departure Oslo
After your final buffet breakfast at the hotel, we’ll transfer you directly to Oslo Gardermoen Airport for your flight home.
