Day 03: Bergen - Flåm Railroad - Loen
After a delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel, leave Bergen behind and travel to the historic, mountain-ringed town of Voss. Here you’ll board a train which will take you across the mountain plateau to Myrdal, where we board the world-famous Flåm Railroad—the highlight of the day! Experience one of the world’s most spectacular rail journeys as you descend to the quaint fjord village of Flåm.
Enjoy some free time in Flåm before embarking on the afternoon ferry, which will carry you along two lovely branches—the Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord—of the Sognefjord, the longest and deepest open fjord in the world. Disembark in Gudvangen, continue by coach through one of the longest tunnels in Norway, and travel through two beautiful fjord and mountain towns: Lærdal and Skei. Arrive in Loen in the late afternoon and check in at a prestigious local hotel, located in the midst of the craggy fjord mountains and calm waters of the Innvikfjorden. Enjoy dinner here and a stay in a fjord view room.
Day 04: Loen - (Optional: Briksdal Glacier) - Geiranger
Buffet breakfast is at your hotel this morning. You’ll have the option today to either enjoy the hospitality of your hotel—which includes a luxurious spa and indoor/outdoor heated pool—or explore Briksdal Glacier, a famous and breathtaking blue glacier tongue which is part of the Jostedal Glacier. If you choose to join the Briksdal Glacier tour, you’ll travel with your guide to the very foot of the glacier. From here, you’ll alternate between small motorized ‘troll’ cars and walking through the Norwegian wilderness to the edge of the ice. Free time for lunch (not included) is provided afterward.
Join the main group back at your hotel and leave Loen in the late afternoon. Continue with your guide through the Norwegian fjords to the famous Dalsnibba observation point—an extraordinary 4,800 feet above sea level—located above the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord.
Continue down to Geiranger and stay in a fjord view room at a stunning four star hotel located on the fjord. We’ll spend two nights in the wonderful surroundings of mountains and fjords, and get the most out of this extraordinary part of the world. Dinner is at your hotel after a special tour of the Mjelva family’s classic car collection, used in the 1920s and 1930s to show guests of the hotel the beauty of the Geirangerfjord.
NOTE: The excursion to Briksdal Glacier must be booked in advance. Passengers who choose not to join the excursion will be picked up at the hotel prior to leaving Loen. Visit to Dalsnibba is subject to climatic conditions, and is not guaranteed.
Day 05: Geiranger
Breakfast at the hotel this morning before we board a ferry and cross the dramatic UNESCO World Heritage Site-listed Geirangerfjord, situated among lush mountains and wild waterfalls. We’ll journey through the beauty of the pristine landscape from Geiranger to Hellesylt, and then travel north along Trollstigen or the Troll's Path. One of the most dramatic and visited areas in Norway, the 11 hairpin turns on this stunning stretch will thrill you as the road winds its way along roughly 100 km of incredible landscape. Lunch stop en-route (lunch is not included).
We’ll return to our hotel in the late afternoon to enjoy dinner.
NOTE: Trollstigen Road tour weather permitting; the road is subject to occasional closure due to weather conditions.
Day 06: Geiranger - Oslo
Enjoy a buffet breakfast at the hotel this morning before you leave with the group by coach. Head towards the capital of Oslo, crossing the exciting Grotli Mountains to Lom, renowned for its well preserved 12th-century stave church. We’ll continue by descending the magnificent Gudbrands Valley via Otta with late afternoon arrival into Oslo.
Stay at a centrally-located five star hotel tonight.
Day 07: Oslo
After breakfast this morning, meet your local English-speaking guide for a 3-hour Oslo city tour. You’ll get to experience the magnificent view of the Oslo Fjord from the new Opera House before continuing to Bygdoy peninsula to see the city tour’s highlights: the Viking Ship Museum, Vigeland's Park, and more! You’ll also pass the Royal Palace and Karl Johan Boulevard, the main avenue of the city, on the way back.
This afternoon is free for you to tour the city on your own.
