In Finnish Lapland you’ll stay in Saariselkä, with its dazzling white landscape, and Rovaniemi with a night in the extraordinary Arctic Glass Igloos. Weather permitting, you may see the breathtaking Northern Lights from your bed. You'll also experience Santa Claus Village and visit the home of Santa Claus in Rovaniemi! Highlights of this winter adventure include the ‘Sampo’ Icebreaker Cruise (you'll have a chance to take a swim in the fresh arctic waters of Kemi!), a snowshoe safari, a reindeer sleigh ride, a husky safari, and much more!
Day 01: Arrive Ivalo - Saariselkä
Arrive at Ivalo Airport and transfer to your hotel in Saariselkä, a unique northern countryside region within Sámi territory teeming with national parks, lakes, rivers and highland fells. Check in to your first-class hotel, and enjoy the rest of your day at leisure.
Please consult the welcome letter which you receive on check in to your hotel, and note the meeting place and time with your tour leader.

Day 02: Saariselkä - Kirkenes - SnowHotel Tour
Early today after breakfast we check out of the hotel and cross the northern border into Norway, where we arrive in Kirkenes: capital of the Barents Region located right near the Russian border, and home to the famous SnowHotel.
After check in today at your hotel, you’ll enjoy a leisurely afternoon exploring this small harbor village. You’ll also have the option to join a King Crab Safari directly from your hotel (full descriptions and rates for all optional excursions can be found at the end of the tour) and experience one of the highlights of Northern Norway, tasting one of its famous local delicacies. The red King Crab, once found exclusively in the Bering Sea region and now an integral part of the Barents Sea ecosystem, can reach up to two meters between the claws and weigh up to 15 kilos!
In the evening, we’ll travel a short distance outside of Kirkenes to the Kirkenes SnowHotel, where you will enjoy a special tour and dinner (included). Return to your hotel in Kirkenes after dinner.

NOTE: You have the exciting option to stay overnight in a Snow Igloo at the SnowHotel! You’ll enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime stay, sleeping on a unique bed in a thermal sleeping bag in approximately -5 degrees Celsius (the bed is comfortable and warm). For those that want a bed in a warm room, a transfer is included back to your hotel. Fee applies to optional overnight at Kirkenes SnowHotel.
Day 03: Kirkenes - Saariselkä
Leave Kirkenes and Norway behind this morning after breakfast, and cross the border into Finland travelling via Inari back to Saariselkä. Along the way we'll visit the National Museum of the Finnish Sámi (SIIDA), where you'll experience more about the Sámi culture and way of living. Lunch is included.
After the museum visit, continue on to Saariselkä and check in to your first class hotel. The rest of your day in Saariselkä is at leisure.

NOTE: Time permitting, you’ll have the option to join another exciting excursion tonight: travel to a nearby Northern Light resort by snowmobile or bus and experience the fantastic views for nearly 4 hours! Visit a theater built inside a massive snow igloo, roam the resort, lay back in the snow observatory by an open fire to admire the sky, and enjoy traditional reindeer burgers in a wooden Kammi cabin cooked over an open fire. Head back to your hotel afterward.
Day 04: Saariselkä
Breakfast is at your hotel this morning. Today you’ll have the very unique opportunity to tread in the footsteps of the Sámi: in this included snowshoe safari, you’ll explore the winter-white wilderness of Urho Kekkonen National Park!
The afternoon is at leisure to continue exploring the area. You may want to try the very popular Finnish sauna, available at the hotel. Overnight at your hotel.

NOTE: Later on tonight, you can opt to join the Aurora Borealis sleigh ride excursion: a magical ride through the fell district with spectacular views of the northern night sky, you’ll head towards a cabin where you enjoy warm berry juice and rest in the middle of Finnish Lapland.
Day 05: Saariselkä - Sinettä Glass Igloos
After breakfast at the hotel this morning, travel south toward Sinettä. On the way, you’ll visit a location that is one of the highlights of this winter tour—a Sámi reindeer farm—where you’ll learn how to throw the Sámi lasso (Suopunki) before exploring the wintry landscape by reindeer sleigh. A three-course lunch is included at the farm before you continue on to Sinettä.
Sinettä is the location of a unique hotel—the Arctic SnowHotel—where you’ll check in to a private Glass Igloo. Enjoy the warmth of your Glass Igloo and weather permitting, you can marvel at the amazing Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) and the millions of stars from your bed. Dinner—a special three-course meal featuring fresh salmon slow-grilled over a magnificent wooden ‘Kota’ (open fire pit)—is also included at the hotel.
Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos
NOTE: Tonight’s short optional excursion is a snow sauna and outdoor Jacuzzi! With walls of snow and ice and benches made of wood, the snow sauna is a very unique experience, and the outdoor Jacuzzi is a relaxing retreat—with the bonus that you may be able to see the astonishing variety of the Northern Lights’ endless heavenly patterns.
Day 06: Sinettä - Santa Claus Village - Rovaniemi
Breakfast is at the hotel this morning. In the late morning you'll travel the short distance to Rovaniemi, stopping on the banks of the Kemijoki River for an exciting Husky Safari!
You’ll visit a local genuine husky farm in Rovaniemi, where the head musher greets you and speaks about the life and training of a husky in the Arctic, and then instructs you on how to use the sled. You’ll set off through the forest together on an exciting run in pairs, your husky companions churning up the snow before you. After the trip, visit the farm and enjoy a traditional outdoor lunch: Lappish fire-grilled sausage and pancakes.
Later you’ll make the short journey to the world-famous Santa Claus Village, built right on the Arctic Circle, and meet Santa himself! You can stop by the post office to send a letter to someone special, as well as explore the magical grounds and Santa’s Park.
From Hotel Santa Claus, it’s a short trip to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the afternoon and evening is free to relax.

NOTE: There’s an optional excursion available tonight where you can taste Lappish cuisine—A Taste of Lapland—in Rovaniemi at Sky Ounaasvaara. Situated beautifully in semi-wilderness with a panoramic view of the city, you’ll enjoy modern Lappish dishes in a stylish setting. You can also linger on the rooftop terrace with a delicious cocktail, taking in the sight of Rovaniemi’s snowy expanse.
Day 07: Rovaniemi - Kemi Icebreaker Cruise - Rovaniemi
You’ll have breakfast at your hotel before departing on your last memorable, full day of activities. First you’ll head to Kemi, Finland: home of the incredible Kemi SnowCastle (and the equally incredible snow slide). Explore the snow sculptures and the grounds here and enjoy the fun, festive atmosphere.
At roughly noon depart in a private coach and travel south to Kemi, where you experience one of the highlights of your winter adventure: the Sampo Icebreaker. Board the ship at Kemi Harbor and spend 4 hours on this unforgettable vessel breaking though the ice in the northern Gulf of Bothnia. This special experience includes a guided tour of the ship, its massive engine room and bridge, and a 3-course lunch in the onboard restaurant.
In the middle of the largest ice field in Europe, you’ll get the opportunity to jump in the sea and float! Outfitted with a warm survival suit, those who dare to participate will be presented with a special certificate by the ship’s captain.
Transfer back to Rovaniemi, arriving in the early evening at your hotel.

Optional safari rates include: All snowmobile safaris include thermal outfit, guide services in English, a snowmobile shared by two guests taking turns driving, fuel, traffic insurance (maximum personal liability €980/~$1100), maintenance and VAT. Kirkenes - King Crab Safari, including lunch
A totally unforgettable experience awaits you on the frozen fjords of Kirkenes, Norway. Catch, learn how to cook, and taste the mysterious Arctic King Crab, one of the most sought-after meals in top restaurants around the world. You’ll take part in helping to saw the hole in the ice and bring up the catch. See how the crab is prepared by your master guide, and then you’ll be taken by snowmobile sledge to a beautiful farmhouse by the lake. Here, enjoy a King Crab meal by a cozy log fire! Saariselkä - Northern Light Resort Excursion
During this brisk safari you'll travel (by snowmobile or bus) 12.5 miles into the Lappish wilderness towards a fabulous Northern Light resort. Visit the Aurora Borealis Theatre built inside one of the on-site massive snow igloos, where you’ll see a video about the myths and facts of this natural phenomenon, roam the resort’s igloo bar, or take a sleigh ride on a snowmobile-drawn sleigh. Dinner—traditional reindeer burgers in a wooden Kammi cabin cooked over an open fire—is included. Remember to bring your camera! Details: 3-4 hours. Snowmobile 7PM start OR Bus 8PM start. Saariselkä - Aurora Borealis Sleigh Ride
Sit back and enjoy the ride, capturing the true feeling of a winter night in the northern woods! Your guide drives a snowmobile into the fell district, pulling your sleigh as you experience the milky light of the moon and stars casting enchanting shadows across the snowfields. Travel to a cabin in the heart of the woods and enjoy warm berry juice while you listen to the sounds of the forest, and look up to try and catch the Northern Lights peeking through the trees. Rovaniemi - A Taste of Lapland
