Winter Tours

Visit Scandinavia in the Winter Season

There is so much going on in Scandinavia during the winter months! In spite of the cold and snow (or maybe because of it!), a winter trip to Scandinavia can give you the experience of a lifetime. The Northern Lights are the main attraction, and can be seen in most areas north of the arctic circle during the winter. For prime Northern Lights viewing—usually in the wilderness away from city lights—visit the world-famous Ice Hotel in northern Sweden, the SnowHotel in northern Norway, or Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort in northern Finland, all of which also offer incredible outdoor excursions. You can take advantage of their many adventure opportunities, including dog sledding, icebreaker excursions, King Crab safaris, snow shoe walks under the Northern Lights, Sámi cultural tours, and ice fishing.

Another reason to travel to Scandinavia on a winter tour is the benefit of visiting a city Christmas market! These markets take place in all the capital cities during December—one of the most popular Christmas markets can be found inside Copenhagen's famous Tivoli Gardens, the second-oldest amusement park in the world.

Remember: during this season, traveling is great as there aren’t as many tourists around. You'll get to experience the local food and culture without the crowds!
